Two exciting data points

#1: I’m the top hit on Google Hong Kong for “senior accounting partner glamorous life”. Hurrah! (note: I’m not a senior accounting partner, despite my glamorous life).

#2: a right-wing nutcase (with the amusing trait of pretending not to be right-wing, which is easier to do if you oppose extra-judicial punishment beatings) is trying to smear me as the world’s most evil, objectively-pro-thug person in the comments to the last post. Even though the last post was about iPods. Ahh, it’s like summer 2005 all over again – do feel free to pile in.

  1. He means 'pile in' in the sense of 'feel free to mob attack someone whom I won't allow to answer you back'! I rather think he's waiting for, ahem, disreputable web surfers to heed his call. He was described as a bully in the other thread, he's hardly proving the fella wrong.

  2. It was more in the spirit of inviting everyone to join in the fun, to resurrect the fine traditions of SBBS [@ Kusabi, you don't know what that's a reference to, then I despise you slightly less than I otherwise would]. But word to the wise – if you're going to change your screen name because you've discovered the previous one was a gay manga character, then don't refer to your previous screen name as 'the fella' in full-on sockpuppet style, it's just embarrassing…

(also intrigued by 'won't allow you to answer back'. I've not yet censored any comments on this blog, and will only do so if they're libellous, racial-hatred-incitey, or namecheck my employers…)

  3. This blog has Spam Karma 2 installed on it, and has done since 2006, and I haven't changed its settings since 2006. If it believes that a comment is spammy (I don't know exactly what this is caused by, but I imagine it includes such things as, y'know, multiple posts under different identities from the same IP), then it puts it in a moderation queue and sends me an email telling me so. At which point, if it's not commercial spam, I approve it. I've never blocked any such comment that wasn't commercial spam, no matter how fatuous.

But then, we know you're paranoid, because you think we live in an anarchy.
